STEAM Student Leadership Team application

Who is it for?

  • Students who have been nominated by STEAM teachers and staff for demonstrating the skills and mindset that define the STEAM program:
    • Creativity
    • Drive to learn and grow
    • Critical problem solving
    • Ability to connect with others
  • Students are also welcome to apply without a nomination.

What do they do?

  • Serve as Makerspace Mentors during advisement, before and after school, and during special events.
  • Participate in community outreach events during and outside of school hours.
  • Attend planning and training meetings.
  • Compete in STEAM-related events and shows.

What are the benefits of involvement for the student?

  • Develop skills for success in college and career.
  • Make connections for the future.
  • Participate in resume-building activities.
  • Get in-depth training and experience in the Makerspace.
  • More access to career exploration opportunities.
  • Opportunity to share Maker experience and develop leadership skills.

When do they meet?

  • After school meetings twice per month
  • During advisement on travel days
  • As needed for outreach and competitions
